Unique Summer Vacations You Should Consider
4 Unique Summer Vacations Everyone Should Take at Least Once
The glorious arrival of June has officially signaled to the masses that the blessed summer season is just about readying to begin. And trust and believe she’s ready to take her rightful place as ruler for the next 3 months.
Now, if the calendar hasn’t alerted you to this; then I’m sure the blistering and smoldering heat just might be nudging you in the side and saying, ‘she’s almost here, get ready’. Because she is surely pummeling at mach speeds towards us like we owe some money and she’s coming to collect. Fortunately, with summer, comes another little gem in the form of summer vacations.
When it comes to summer vacations; the first idea that tends to pop into our minds is maxing and relaxing in a hotel somewhere. Drinking mai tai’s from a glass with an umbrella. Lounging on the beach and listening to the sweet sounds of waves crashing. Sounds luxurious right? Absolutely fabulous. A holiday of pure blissful relaxation. One of the few times a year that you may get to really feel the lull of time and rejuvenate your soul.
But, I also think a vacation can be more awe-inspiring and inspirational. A trip so spectacular that you can’t simply explain with a postcard but rather has you telling the stories of your adventures for years to come. A new horizon just waiting to be explored.
New summer adventures await
It’s always wonderful to step out of your comfort zone and try something a little different. Earlier this year, I put pen to paper and shared my own adventure list with you. A simple list of memories I’m hoping to create in 2018. You may not have created an adventure list just yet, but with summer vacation right around the corner, it’s the perfect time to try something a little new.
So I thought I would share with you some of the different types of vacations you could consider this summer. Think of this as an inspiration guide for your 2018 summer adventures. A list of unique summer vacations you should contemplate going on.
1. Go on an unforgettable outdoor adventure
Summer is the perfect time of the year to spend most of your days outside and soak in the warmth. Do you love a good adventure? Are you an outdoorsy, nature-lover? Maybe you don’t quite have a love for the outdoors but just want the fresh air to fill your lungs. Then how about you combine your vacation with a little physical fun. Inhale the fresh, crisp air and exhale a feeling of pure joy and merriment.
Whether you are at the best fitness level of your life and want to challenge your body as well as your mind. An outdoor adventure maybe just what the body needs to relax this summer. Climb a mountain. go ziplining, skydiving, learn to surf or go bike riding with your family. Challenge every aspect of your body, while taking in some of the best experiences on offer. Experience the best of both worlds in one go.
2. Take a road trip to nowhere
Maybe taking a road trip sounds more your speed. It’s definitely a unique summer vacation to enjoy. There’s just something about belting out your favourite tunes while the sun sets over a new destination. The gentle touch of wind brushing through hair as you drive through the ever-expanding, unknown terrain. It makes you feel sublime.
Road trips give you the opportunity to take on the open road and see some fabulous destinations in one vacation break. You see places that you wouldn’t ordinarily get to visit if you were just flying to one destination. Plus, it’s definitely something you can try in your own backyard. Think of a few places around your country or the place you plan to visit. Map out a route that gives you best opportunity to visit all the places on your list. And presto pronto, set off on an amazing road trip adventure to remember.
3. Island or city hopping
Much like a road trip, island or city hopping gives you the opportunity to see a diverse amount of destinations in one sweep. Which to me sounds pretty darn exciting. From the distance, all islands or cities may appear the same. But once you step foot into their domain, you see that each place has a life of its own. The people, the culture, food and entertainment all unique in its own right.
A great way to experience more bang for buck is to go on a cruise. A cruise allows you to see as many destinations as possible in one short go; so you’re bound to find somewhere or multiple places (you little player you) to fall in love with. A huge bonus is that the itinerary is already pre-planned for you. So all you have to do is book your place, sit back, relax and enjoy the show.
However, maybe you’re a just a little bit of a control freak and yearning for more control over your trip. Then no problems man, just switch it up a little and organize it yourself. Hop, skip, jump, or fly between destinations. That way if there’s one place you’ve been dying to visit more than anywhere else; you could spend a little more time there.
So if you’re itching for a set of new encounters this summer, grab your passport, suitcase and some sunscreen, and start planning for your island or city hopping experience. It’s going to be great.
4. Tick off destinations or experiences from your bucket list
Finally, what is something you’ve always wanted to do? Is it to go bungee jumping from the Niagara Falls? How about seeing the Aurora Borealis in person? Probably you want to eat pizza, pasta and gelato in Italy. Name one or more things that have been sitting on your bucket list for ages. That little mental or physical list of places you dream of visiting and memories you yearn to make before you die. Don’t waste this summer holiday. Instead, try spending it tackling your ever-growing bucket list, one day at a time. Step out of your comfort zone and take the plunge to have that holiday of a lifetime. No matter what, you will be grateful for the experience.
So there you have it, some unique summer vacations to enrich your holiday. These are just a few great alternatives to the usual beach holiday. It can really help to spark the imagination and get the wheel turning on some unique summer vacations you can have this year. New experiences and new adventures just waiting for you. I mean what could be better than a summer vacation to explore the places you haven’t visited and try new things you haven’t done?!
