For many, Valentine’s Day is absolutely wonderful. It's a time to celebrate and revel in love. You express feelings of love and affection to those that mean the most to you. Plus the chocolate!!! Any day that's full of chocolate is always a good day! Yess!! If you're in a relationship and in love, you just can't wait to spend some time with your honey. A day when you reflect on your relationship and remember all the reasons why you love each other.

But if you're single; All the single people! All the single people! All the single people, put your hands up! You may be feeling more 'ugh' than you do 'ahhh ain't love grand'. Ba humbug to all the lovebirds out there and all the red & white reminders of a Valentine-less year. You’re just tired of seeing all the couples on your timeline posting all these mushy gushy pictures and comments. Yuck! What is a single person to do?

The first thing you should do is to not define yourself by your relationship status. Your relationship status is not your identity and it is ever changing. There is no need for feelings of loneliness or self-doubt. Single Doesn't Have to mean Lonely. You don’t need anyone to complete you or make you happy. Just because you don't have a valentine, doesn't mean that the day can't be special. It's time to change it up and have your own fun this Valentine and I'm here to tell you how. Cupid may not have struck you this year but that doesn't mean your day can't be amazing.

Now that you’ve got that covered what do you do to enjoy yourself on Valentine’s Day while being single? The aim is to do something that is fun and is a great distraction from all the chaos going on around you with couples. Check out these great tips to Celebrate Valentine's day your way.

1. Treat yo' self!!!

Buy yourself something nice. Get your own chocolates. Pop a bottle of bubbly and have a drink while reading a good book. Take a long relaxing bath. Really enjoy some much needed “me-time”. Go somewhere you've always wanted to. Take the day to unplug. Maybe even check out a single’s subscription box.

A day centered on love is the perfect day to practice some much needed TLC and self-love. Relax and let your hair down your hair.  Buy your favorite wine, candy, or meal, and keep it all to yourself. Spend the day pampering yourself and celebrating all the reasons that you are an amazing and wonderful human being. Because you absolutely are and you most definitely deserve it.

 2. Netflix and Chill

Don't want to go out? No problemo mis amigos. Spend Valentine's Day with some movie or tv show faves. Order some food (or cook up a storm if you want), invite your other single friends over and have a blast. Watch all the Netflix. Eat all the food. And do all the chilling you want.

Up the tempo of this get together by playing some music and dancing the night away. Just remember all you have to do is HAVE FUN!

3. Be the ultimate giver

Nothing helps you to feel better faster than doing something nice for someone else. Helping doesn’t even have to be on a large scale like volunteering at a soup kitchen or visiting a children’s hospital. It can be something as simple babysitting for a couple that never gets a night out and really needs that date night. Really do a friend a solid and just help them with anything. This may not seem like a lot to you but it would be greatly appreciated by the receiving party. So this Valentine’s Day spread some joy by helping others. You will get it multiplied back many times over.

4. Celebrate Palentine’s Day

How about buying a box of chocolate for a friend or giving out little chocolates to several friends and family members? Or what about buying a box of those little paper Valentines, then pass them out to your family and friends. Send flowers to a loved one. Maybe even do a Valentine’s exchange with your single pals. In doing so, you will be reminded of how much love you do have in your life. Also, it will bring a smile to many faces, including yours!

5. Have a boys/girls night out or in

Grab a group of your single friends, get dressed up and go out for a fun night on the town. It doesn’t matter what you decide to do. It can be take a trip to the movies, going to a club or party, hitting up a comedy club/bar, or even just planning a fun picnic.

Or maybe you’re not into the overcrowding Valentine’s day scene and rather spend the night in with friends. Throw an anti-Valentine's day party. Maybe even have a game night. I mean, who doesn’t like a good game? It’s time to dust those old board games off the shelf, call all of your friends over and host a game night. Games like Twister are immensely enjoyable and tend to bring out the child-like joy in all of us. Food, friends, games and fun, what more can one ask for?

Whatever you choose to do; the point is to enjoy your day with some wicked awesome people in your life. It'll give you a chance to spend quality time with some of your faves. .

Just remember you are not your relationship status love is not just for couples; it is for all of us. Don’t let one day of the year stop you from showing love everyday!

Twas the day of Valentine's and all through the house, not a singleton was lonely because they were filled with self-love. The lovers were cuddled and bundled so tight, with memories of their romance filling their minds. It was the perfect Valentine's for one and all because love through the air filled us all.

LOVE,

NELLA
