How To Get There

Located approximately an hour’s drive away from both Montego Bay and Ocho Rios, this hotel can easily be accessed via the North to South Highway. If you’ve been following this blog for a while and are familiar with my travel posts, then you’d probably realize that the North to South toll way is the real plug that has made travelling along the north coast significantly faster and easier.

The route from Kingston to Trelawny or Montego Bay to Trelawny is pretty much a straight one once you take the highway. From Kingston, Trelawny is approximately a 2-hour drive and as mentioned before from Montego Bay it is an approximately an hour’s drive away. Using google maps as your guide, it is quite easy to locate the hotel once in Trelawny. It is just next door to Royalton Trelawny so you can use this as your marker if you’re uncertain.

Accommodations

The property houses approximately 96 rooms in sleek low-rise wooden buildings amidst lush tropical gardens. Each building has either a pool, a beach, or a tropical garden view. The rooms had an immediate welcome feel on entry. Modern rustic décor provided the framework for the cozy and relaxing ambiance I believe the hotel was going for. Mangos Jamaica Beach Resort marries spacious traditional wooden rustic décor with modern amenities to create the chef’s kiss room that anyone would find appealing. Rooms are air conditioned, has Wi-Fi and has a balcony.

Food

To be honest, the food options were a bit limited albeit delicious. There were 2 on-site restaurants. The first restaurant is the main restaurant which is a buffet style mixed menu of both local and international cuisine. This is restaurant you go to for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast included Jamaican specials like porridge, ackee and saltfish, mackerel run down mixed paired with things like plantain, boiled banana, yam and fried dumpling complemented by international offerings such as pancakes, waffles, scrambled eggs, omelets and so on. The second restaurant on property was the grill which is where lunch is usually served. Here is where you get burgers and fries, hot dogs, grilled cheese sandwiches and so on. Other than the limited offerings, I must say the food was scrumptious.

There are also 2 bars on the property. One by the main restaurant and the second by the grill. The second bar is also a swim up bar for those who are swimming in the pool as the bar right smack dab by the pool.

What To Do

Pristine white sandy beaches is a hallmark of a Jamaican hotel and at Mangos Jamaica this is no different. Mangos Jamaica Beach Resort is perfectly situated on 160ft of pure white sand beach. Feel the sensation of soft delicate sand squishing under your feet as you take a stroll along a stretch of the mesmerizing beach and taking in the beautiful sunrises and sunsets signaling the beginning and ending of another luxurious day. Wash off in the turquoise blue sea water or laze around on one of the many lounge chairs scattered across the beach. A definite postcard-perfect and instagram-worthy surroundings.

The resort also has a free-form swimming pool, water slide, tennis court, gym, two hot tubs, and spa services are optional.

The Wrap Up

Overall, Mangos Jamaica was a much needed tranquil and relaxing escape I needed. I absolutely loved the rooms. They were warm, inviting and just absolutely wonderful. The hotel was serene, comfortable and in my opinion a perfect space and destination for a restful, relaxing getaway or if you need some peace and quiet to get some work done. I would definitely go back. My only drawback is the rest of the grounds need some maintenance and they need more activities for visitors. My rating for this experience is 3.5/5.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have you ever visited Mangos Jamaica resort before? What are your thoughts? Loved it? Hated it? Indifferent? Leave your comments down below.
